First Mixes Of New Songs

What is up? Just so you all know, we have the first round of mixes for our new songs. I can tell you Hidden is on to something with this new sound. I listen to the new jams in my car all the time. If you didn't have to wait til the release date to hear what I'm talking about... You would understand completely.

For anyone who missed us this summer, just know we missed you too. But we are making a kick ass record.. See you all soon.

Watermelon

So the record is basically done we are just waiting on a few finishing touches. But it sounds sweet. I know everybody is gonna love the record!! There are a few surprises that Im sure some people wouldn't have expected from good old hi to the pv.....but in due time. I understand that there was a write up in AP magazine saying that the mis-titled record is due out in October...this unfortunately is not going to be happening due to matters out of our 5 personal hands......i know, i know everyone will be bummed but i can promise you that no one is more eager to get this record out then the 5 of us........but what can ya do.... it should only be a short 3 month wait as we are hoping for a very early February release in the states and Europe. Japan and Australia we are unsure of at this moment but the sooner the better. I promise you we want this record out ASAP!!!!

Update

Vocals are killing it on this record!!! Not too mention lyrics, ha ha... Rob and I have approached vox in a couple different ways. Doing our takes together at the same time and capturing some raw emotion. We've tracked some gang vox in different rooms all over the studio... Some fresh sounds breaking out all over the place. I have to say I'm very proud of how Rob and I's harmonies sound so far. Our voices are blending better than ever. Do I sound stoked? Cause I am.

Guitar Solo??!!!!

yes yes the rumors are true there is a guitar solo on our new record.....me and mike shred our axes in a song that is yet to be titled....but rocks non the less...my cousin calls it the "foo fighter" song.....and yes you can expect me and mike in leather pants on the catwalk with fans blowing up at us!!!!........well you might have to use your imagination a little bit :)

Big Day Out (Of The Studio)

while the rest of hidden in plain view spent the day perfecting the record of the universe, i braved the forces of nature and went to hang out at Warped tour in long island. let me tell you.. doing the actual tour is much easier than going to hang out for a day. why? i dont know, but i am completely exhausted. now i remember how nice it is to spend the summer in an air conditioned studio :) while i miss the shows, the friends, the heat exhaustion, and the bus fumes, i am glad we got to spend this summer making a record. i cant believe how well everything has been coming out.. the news jams are my favorite. i wish i could tell you everything about this record, but that would spoil all the fun ;) here's a few pictures of my adventures from yesterday. until next time ya'll..

Splash, Twist, Turn

So I was listening to what we've recorded thus far on my ipod last night while i was falling asleep. I like to do stuff like this with our demos and such while we're recording cause sometimes you'll get an idea for something or hear something you didn't hear last time. Well this time that didn't happen but it did induce a totally awesome dream where we were opening for Jimmy Eat World and Jim Adkins came out on stage and sang one of our new songs with us. Pretty awesome dream eh? There's something special about that band, because they're not the craziest guitar players, and they're not all decked out in eyeliner or girls pants. No gimmic, no b.s., just cool dudes with good songs. Gotta admire a band like that. Ok so this studio update turned more into a props to Jimmy Eat World bit haha, oh well!

Not Quite Radiohead, But...

Although we have used piano and keyboards on past recordings this time around we have been able to experiment and maybe try to push the boundaries a little bit further. On one song in particular "A new light" we totally are doing something that HIPV has never been done.....but don't get all worried it still sounds like HIPV...we are just really trying to broaden our sound....if you have heard our "X-Mas Song" on the DTR compilation you will get the idea......The best part about making this record has been getting the opportunity to try different ideas....working with Brian has been a totally open minded creative environment......because it cant hurt to try anything

"worthless like a penny in your pocket...an empty locket around your neck...I'm hanging on to you"

Guitar Madness

Me and Mike and good old B McT have been working on guitar parts like mad.....Im really really excited about all the tones we have been getting because they sound amazing. We have been using a ton of different amps, guitars, and effect pedals experimenting with different sounds and feels......something we never really had the opportunity to do on our earlier records. I know that the average person doesnt care about this kinda stuff....but if you are a guitar player and/or sound guru like myself you would appreciate the toys we get to play with down here.....Here we have like 9 different guitars to choose from.... 12 different amps.....8 cabinets.....and like 5 million effect pedals.......check out the pedal board its quite comical. Its like being at guitar center with out the metal dudes in shiney shirts showing off.

Studio Studio Studio

So its Sunday night here in Baltimore. We got a lot of stuff done this week!! Chris did a really great job with all of his bass tracks. Some reallly cool and different bass lines that compliment the songs really well. Me and Mike have a handful of guitars done for a bunch of different songs. We are concentrating mostly on rythmn guitar work....but the guitar tones are really really cool. We have been playing around with using a bunch of different amps and guitars to make all the songs have there own characteristic. Me and Joe layed down the lead vocals for 2 songs so far....the working titles for the songs are "like an ocean" and "circles". It always takes us a while to figure titles out for the songs. So yeah things are going well....Cant wait to play these new songs for everybody.
